The Burroughs Home has special meaning to me. Years back, I shot one of my first weddings here. It was of two of my closest friends, marrying each other. I was nervous, and looking back, unprepared. Since then, I’ve shot nearly 100 more weddings. Everything is old hat now, but it never gets old coming back.

When Yohana and Paul asked us to photograph their engagement at the Burroughs Home, where they were also shooting their wedding, it was exciting for me. This would be my first return since that early wedding, and it was with a couple Sadie and I absolutely adored. Everything about these two exuded love, friendship and unity. They were such a great couple, entirely comfortable around each other. They always (we’ve done other sessions since then) have such fun having together, making shooting photos of them so much fun. Their wedding, which will be posted later, was filled with all the same emotions.

We started off on the overlook, where we could see above all the trees over the entire park, and then followed the boardwalk back through to the beach and ended the session just as the sun was setting. We can't wait to photograph their wedding later this year in Naples. ...

This year has been incredible for us, we've met couples who were perfect for us and our style and this couple was perhaps the pinnacle of the year. When they contacted us and asked to do their engagement session at this small, off the road park, we obviously agreed. Sadie and I love exploring and looking around. I usually check out the land and fantasize about how the native people used the local resources and what resources are natural and what ones are man-made while Sadie wanders around looking for cool-looking insects or interesting fossils or plants. We were excited to explore this little, seemingly empty, park with the couple. Once w ...
